He was predeceased by: his parents, Filemon Montoya and Katarina Martinez Montoya (Martha Baca-Montoya); his siblings, Albert A. Montoya, Fernando Montoya, Rosella Shepard and Roberta Weahkee; and his nephew Sammy Montoya.
He is survived by: his brother Ron (Mary Grace); and his sister-in-law Pita Montoya. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
