He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay Ray and Dorothy Hayden Smith; and his siblings, Joanna Hurd of Lima and Robert Smith of The Villages, Florida.. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Ruth Hatchett of Kenton, Ohio.; and his children, Jacqueline (Lawrence Mecklenborg), Jennifer (Jon Holzapfel), Tina and Jay (Janice Meek). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
