He was predeceased by: his wife Meloney Sanchez; his son Juan DeJesus Sanchez Jr.; his parents, Ferdinando Sanchez and Virginia Gallegos-Sanchez; his brother Santiago Sanchez (Tito); and his sister-in-law Emma Sanchez.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cecilia Velarde (Jose) of Ojo Sarco and April Maestas (Mario) of El Guique; his grandchildren, Anna Maria Velarde-Sanchez, Selena Velarde, Alissa, Arianna Maestas, Jose Velarde Jr. and Mario Maestas; and his brother Joe Sanchez.
