With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gilbert Madrid of Ribera, New Mexico, born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 15, 2026 at the age of 75. He was predeceased by: his parents, Cristoval R. Madrid Sr. of La Manga, NM and Corina Silva Madrid of Las Manelitas; his brothers, Leroy Madrid and Cristoval Madrid Jr.; his brother-in-law Bonifacio Lucero; his nephew Leonard Lucero; his niece Patricia Madrid; and the mother of his children Lucy Apodaca.
He is survived by: his siblings, Jane Lucero of Las Vegas, NM, Julia Montoya (Tony) of Chapelle, NM, Nick Madrid of Las Vegas, NM and Danny Madrid of California; his children, Gilbert Richard Madrid Jr. (Jill) of Las Vegas, NV, Miriam Urquiaga, Julie Jaramillo (Ramon) of Albuquerque, NM and Jose Madrid of Las Vegas, NM; the mother of his children Lucille Arguello; his grandchildren, Cristobal Urquiaga, Lumarsita Urquiaga, Anthony Madrid, Tristan Madrid, Aidan Madrid, Ramon Jaramillo Jr. (Gabriella) and Selina Jaramillo; his great grandchildren, Mikey and Sofia Phillips; and his nieces and nephews, LeEtte Quintana (Jay), Corina Madrid, Lydia Atencio (Daniel), Rebecca Montoya (Lorenzo), Julio Montoya, Adam Montoya, Billy Madrid, Kenneth Madrid, Michael Madrid, Angelo Madrid and Ryan Gabaldon.
