He is survived by : his wife Brenda; his daughters, Shannon (Jammie), Shelley (Heath) and Stacey (Steve); his grandchildren, Brittany, Megan, Heath and Samantha; and his siblings, Wayne (Carol Ann) and Paula (Bob).

His two children from his first marriage to Marjorie G White Nelson, son John L Avey of Texarkansas, and his Daughter Gretchen Y Avey Bragg of Texarkansas.
