He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry J. Hughes and Alma Grace Stevens Hughes (Peggy); his brother James Stevens Hughes; his brothers-in-law, Lawrence Paradee and Dale Mays; and his nephew Carl Edwin Cooper, Jr. (Eddie).

He is survived by: his sisters, Jennie Lou Mays of Shawnee, OK, Mardine Cooper (Carl) of Roswell and Peggy Ann Paradee of Katy, TX.; and his nieces and nephews, Nanci Sackman (Gary), Richard Mays, Robert Mays, Diana Woods, Steve Hughes, Sandie Gallagher, Marcie Wilson, Wendell Cooper, Brian Cooper, Martin Cooper, Lari Paradee, Sheri Paradee and Craig Paradee.
