She was predeceased by: her parents, Anastacio Ortega and Agustina Ortega (Gurule); and her siblings, Henry Ortega (Alice), Edward "Dado" Ortega (Stella), Mariano Ortega (Pita), Joe "Ruben" Ortega, Joe A. Ortega (Nora) and Martha Peinado (Daniel).
She is survived by: her husband William B. Barkell; her son Stephen Barkell (Nancy); her grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson and Roman Pohl; and her sister Margaret Martinez (Daniel). She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and other family members.
