He is survived by: his wife Kim Pine Dougharty; his children, Allie Gibson Dougharty and Fen Wright Dougharty; his siblings, Phil Dougharty and Bonnie Dougharty; his niece Kristina Dougharty; and his in-laws, David and Barbara Pine.
Their bond, strengthened over years of trust and friendship, endured even as the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the transplant and introduced new fears.
