It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Vaughn of Silver City, New Mexico, born in Lanai City, Hawaii, who passed away on March 20, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Shinji Yamato and Miyono Yamato; her former life partner Roger Vaughn; and her siblings, Shimako, Tetsuo, Shizue and Takeo.

She is survived by : her husband Dick Smith; and her children, Marylee Bell (Mark Bell) of Silver City, Laura (Jeff Barela) of Santa Fe, NM, Diana Vaughn of Silver City, Les Yamato (Lili Suchoff) of Katy, TX, Janice Vaughn of Silver City and Roger Vaughn Jr. (Stacey) of Peoria, AZ. She is also survived by six children, 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 10th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Baca's Funeral Chapel- Silver City (3805 Delk Dr, Silver City, NM 88061).

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to charity of your own choosing.
