He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Asevedo and Guadalupe Asevedo; his brother Augustine; his sister-in-law Lorenza Asevedo; his niece Martha Asevedo; his uncle Florentino "Tino" Marquez; and his stepdaughter Ruth Ortiz Gonzales Jurado.
He is survived by: his wife Margarita Ortiz Gonzales Asevedo; his adoptive children, Miguel Angel Gonzales Asevedo, Anthony Robert Gonzales Asevedo and Analisa Lorraine Gonzales Asevedo; his niece Lupita Asevedo Caballero; and his stepchildren, Macedonio Jesus Gonzales, JoAnn Legarda (Ernest), Patricia Abeyta, Robert Gonzales (Annette) and Joseph Gonzales (Rose).
Visitation was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Baca's Funeral Chapel- Silver City (3805 Delk Dr, Silver City, NM 88061). A rosary was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (420 W Market St, Silver City, NM 88061). A burial was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery (420 W Market St, Silver City, NM 88061).
As a devoted Catholic, Joaquín approached every day with love, faith, and charity and demonstrated his faith with diligence and kindness.
