He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Hannig and Lucille Ertelt. He is survived by: his wife Diane Hannig; his son Steven Hannig; his stepchildren, Andrew, Catherine, Dean, Kenneth and Laura; and his siblings, Lyman Hannig, Jon Hannig, Jeff Hannig, Teresa and Eileen Hannig. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis Newman Center (914 W 13th St, Silver City, NM 88061).
