He was predeceased by: his parent Ida Trujillo Avila; his wife Cecilia; his siblings, Narciso Trujillo, Baltazar Avila, Augustina Trujillo and Jenny Salazar; his nephew Raymond Avila; his aunt Juanita Santillanes; and his in-laws, Visintita and Desiderio Gonzales (JD).
He is survived by: his children, Emeline of Albuquerque, Patrick of Springer and Jose Jr. of Raton; his grandsons, Phillip of Colorado and Brian of Colorado; and his siblings, Virginia Mondragon of Albuquerque, Elsie Avila of Colorado, Jerry Avila of Raton, Joseph Avila of Texas, Ramon Avila Jr. of Colorado and Orlando Avila of Florida. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
