He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Edwin Chamberlin and Gertrude Chamberlin; his sons, Edwin Phillip, Jr. and John William; his wife Mary Jo; and his grandchildren, Joey, Tyler, Conner and Lilly.

Phil joined Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1975, retiring in 1998 after considerable contributions to the Nuclear Deterrence capability of the nation.
