He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby V. Ortiz; his parents, E. B. Ortiz and Ophelia S. Ortiz; and his siblings, Joseph Ortiz, Arthur Ortiz and Sadie Knight.

He is survived by: his daughter Gina (Charles Gallagher); his granddaughters, Renee and Alexis; and his siblings, Ted Ortiz (Cecilia), Lucille Olds (Wally), Margaret Werner (Robert) and Anna Marie Velasquez. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
