Nancy Grace (Jespersen) Goern Obituary
Nancy Grace Goern (née Jespersen), age 85, died on February 18, 2022 in Henderson, Nevada. The cause of her death was Parkinson’s disease.
She was born on September 10, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roy Franz Goern, her three children, Derrick (Jessika) Goern of Henderson, Nevada, Valerie (Mark) Belinc of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sandra (Steve) Grande of Grants Pass, Oregon, and nieces and nephews, Jeff, Sue, Mark, Gillian, and Adam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and June Jespersen and her sister Lois Howard.
Nancy was raised in Chicago, Illinois. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she met her husband Roy. They married in 1958. After Roy completed his master’s degree in engineering, they moved to Southern California where they raised their family and enjoyed their early retirement years traveling together. Nancy and Roy spent their later years in Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada nearby their two eldest children.
While Nancy was most often known for being unfailingly nice and kind, she could also be surprisingly strong willed and tenacious. Despite the difficulty of her final illness, she spent her last strength letting each member of her family know how important they were to her and expressing her love for them. Nancy’s family was everything to her. She was the glue that kept everyone together and she held each family member close to her heart always.
A witness cremation for immediate family will be held on March 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Palm Crematory, 1330 North Main Street, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on August 6, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the home of Derrick and Jessika Goern in Henderson, Nevada.
