He was predeceased by: his mother Annie D. Thomas (Burrows); his sister Claire Thomas-Mitchlll; his father Dewey Herbert Thomas; and his daughters, Renee Thomas-Perkins (Edward) and Celina Thomas-Nelson.
He is survived by: his sisters, Jean Thomas, Phyliss Burrows and Marilyn Anne Thomas-Stevenson; his child Chern Eugene Thomas Jr.; his wife Bettye; his children, Michael Pettiford and Sharon Nicholas (Luther); his grandchildren, Renee Bradley Jinks, Nicole Ali, Angela Perkins, Tanya Perkins, Cursena Kirkland (Kyle), Morrell Nicholas and Tyree Nicholas; his great grandchildren, Asia Jinks, Jenardre Ali, Nailah Jinks, Najee Jinks, Faith Ali, Ava Nicholas and Marlowe Auslander; and his sisters, Claire Mitchell and Consuello Timberlake. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
