He is survived by: his wife Julia M. Sandoval; his children, Ray Romero (Monica), Julie Nichols (Joseph) and Maria Ipharr (David); his grandchildren, Alex, Christina, Anna, Emily (Richard), Amalia and Jacob; and his great grandchildren, Liahna, Laylah and Remmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital—two causes close to Fernando's heart.
