He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Tyler and Willie Lee Tyler (Lilton); his sister Bernadette Tyler; his nephew Bernard Lilton; and his niece Stephanie Tyler.
He is survived by: his pet Charlie; his wife Janet Tyler (Robinson); his siblings, Ricky, Derrick Tyler and Kay Tyler; and his stepsiblings, Earl "Shagg" Lilton and Mary "Sue" Lilton.
In preparation for local performances, the Michael Ray Tyler Cool Big Band rehearsed at Hemmings in Henderson, and prior to the pandemic, also in the Tyler home.
