He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel Vance and Margaret Fitting; his son Bryce Vance; and his siblings, Richard Vance, Bruce Vance and Norma Sauerbier (Jeanne Vance).

He is survived by: his close friend Ganise Satterwhite Vance; his sons, Duane Vance and Robert Vance; and his sister Cindy Fitting. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
