He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hayes and Elsie Frye Hayes; his daughter Lisa; and his siblings, Lois, Richard and Robert.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Osborne Hayes; his sons, Daniel Hayes (Sharon) of Broadalbin, Scott Hayes (Ariel) of Woodstock and Matthew Osborne (June) of Valatie; and his siblings, William Hayes, Hazel McKeever, Cynthia Spencer, Beth Hayes, Susan Serafin (Richard), Harry Hayes, Nancy Leach (Tom), Thomas Hayes (Kim), John Hayes (Mary) and David Hayes (Michelle). He is also survived by four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Assoc., both in care of the funeral home.
