He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife Denise Fitzgerald (Domagalski); his children, Laura (Mike Butler), Brian, Matthew Fitzgerald, Eric Fitzgerald (Hope Bough) and Sean Fitzgerald (Ellen); his granddaughters, Madeline, Grace and Catherine; his siblings, Mark, Tommy Fitzgerald, Mary Anne Ruf, Margaret Mary Neiles and Rose Fitzgerald Wolfe; and his parents, John Joseph and Ruth Murphy Fitzgerald.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will hold a private service at Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home in Albany.
