He is survived by: his wife Jane Cavanaugh Bonavita; his sons, Joseph III (Meaghan) of New Orleans, LA and Mark (Jaime) of Guilderland; his grandchildren, Joseph "Bear" IV, Coco, Rose of New Orleans, Chloe, Hayley and Aidan of Guilderland; his siblings, Karen Bodie (Burt) of Kingston, NY and Jeff (Dawn) of Yorktown, VA.; his sisters-in-law, Judy Zuchero, Judi Cavanaugh and Mary O'Hair; and his brother Peter. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many great friends.
