He is survived by: his daughter JoDee Smiley (Cory); his grandchildren, Gideon and Odin; and his sisters, Mary Pat Carstense, Suzanne Treese (Jack) and Joanne Smith (Wayne). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
