Carl leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Carl’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Carl will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his siblings, William (Harlene), Carolyn Burger (late Charles), Gerald (Margaret), Sharon Schmitz (late Nick), Linda and Laurie Matthies.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Matthies (Bonnes); and his children, Kevin Matthies and Lisa Wiza (Lucian). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Charles Meyer Funeral Home (13228 Broadway, Alden, NY 14004). A Mass was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. John's RC Church (2021 Sandridge Rd, Alden, NY 14004).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alden Historical Society.
