We announce the death of George H. Burtch (Alexandria Bay, New York), who passed away on September 7, 2026, at the age of 86. George will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. George will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew George will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. George’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence H. Burtch and Ethel E. Burns Burtch; and his grandson Jesse Monica. He is survived by: his children, Robert G. (Jennifer Simpson), Elizabeth "Liz" Burtch of Rochester, NY, Elaine "Lainey" Scott (Dave) of Ranson, WV and Ellen Connors (Tim). He is also survived by five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Costello Funeral Home (113 Church St, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Barnes Settlement Cemetery (46445 Barnes Settlement Rd, Redwood, NY 13679).
Memorial donations may be made in George's name to the Reformed Church of the Thousand Isles, 54 Church St, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607 or the Alexandria Bay Fire Department, 110 Walton St, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607.
