He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward and Elsie Grant Smith; his sisters, Harriet Surdam and Hilda Beyor; and his grandson Michael Klose.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Martin Smith of Prineville, OR, Karen Klose (Mark) of Fredonia, NY and Colleen Johnson (Mario) of Payson, AZ; and his sister Sylvia Wilson. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
