She was predeceased by: her parents, John Bablinskaus and Sophie Bablinskaus (Strikolis); her husband Paul E. Abeling; and her son Frederick Abeling. She is survived by: her children, Cynthia Chace (Timothy), Paul Abeling, Donald Abeling and John Abeling (Angela); her daughter-in-law Valerie Abeling; and her grandchildren, Alyssa (Anton), Timothy (Paige), Kayla (Colin), Valerie (Darren), Ashley, Andrea, Alexandria (Devin), Paul (Arieonna) and Alan. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
