It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Josephine Checca of Amsterdam, New York, born in Utica, New York, who passed away on April 5, 2024, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her husband Mario L. Checca; her parents, Charles Ottavio and Catherine Ottavio; her son Robert C. Checca; and her sisters, Chancey Favorito, Patricia Ryder and Catherine Nelli.

She is survived by : her children, Carol Nelson (John), Pauline Kretser (Bruce) and Charles Checca; her daughter-in-law Amy Hallenbeck; and her grandsons, Christopher Nelson and Bryce Kretser. She is also survived by Nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
