It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rita M. McVay of Arcade, New York, born in Buffalo, New York, who passed away on September 9, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Gordon Arthur and Gertrude Lila Mitchell (Brooks). She is survived by : her husband Clare R. McVay; her daughter Charlotte "Shug" Sampson (Gary) of Sandusky; her grandchildren, Patty Cutler (Newton) of Delevan and Mike Sampson (Lisa) of Arcade; and her great grandchildren, Edward "Eddie", Lindsey Marie and Makayla Colleen Cutler. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

“Aunt Rita was one of the sweetest and generous person I ever known. I will never forget Thanksgiving 1970. My mom was in the hospital having my youngest brother Floyd. We had a small lunch then went visiting ending up at Uncle Claire and aunt Rita’s house just to say hi well Aunt Rita had us come in for a bite. We never had a grander Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings including chestnut dressing, and red velvet cake. Tradition that still going strong in my house, always smile thinkin”
