He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Shaffer and Henrietta Spencer Shaffer; and his siblings, Katherine, Helen, Nellie, William, Ernie, Charles and Claude.
He is survived by: his sons, Lee Shaffer (Raena) of Stanfordville and John J. Shaffer Jr. (Kelly) of Hyde Park, NY; and his grandchildren, Neil (Erica), Jeremiah (Chauntel), Alyssa (Jimmie) and Marissa. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
