He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Whiteman and Nina Champlain Whiteman; his stepfather Glenn Prentice; his half-brothers, Gerald and David Prentice; and his son-in-law Daniel Guthrie.
He is survived by: his wife Audrey Sherner Whiteman; his children, Diane Whiteman Greco of Florida, Patricia Whiteman Guthrie of Hornell, Gary Whiteman (Mary Elaine) of Howard and Michael Whiteman (Laurie) of Hornell; his half-brothers, Monroe Prentice (Dorothy) of Washington State and Roger Prentice (Jerilyn) of Rochester; and his grandchildren, Cathy Greco, Shawn Greco (Samantha), James Whiteman (Ann), Caileigh Fodge-Smith (Tim), Rachel Gauss (Jake), Daniel Guthrie, Thomas Guthrie (Emily), Joel Guthrie (Loretta), Jason Guthrie (Grace), Abigail Phelps (Jon), Isaac Guthrie (Lauren), Jedidiah Guthrie (Rachel), Jesse Guthrie (Joanna), Joshua Whiteman (Melanie) and Madison Allis (Hayden). He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.
