He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. Herbert and Helen Ronayne Hughes Herbert; his wife Dorothy Herbert (Jahn); his son James P. Herbert; his siblings, James Herbert, Thomas R. (Herbert) and Frances "Sis" Nangle; and his daughter-in-law Joanne Herbert.
He is survived by: his children, Iris Young (Russell), William Herbert (Sharon), John Herbert (Debi Edwards) and Patrick Herbert; his grandchildren, Robert Coly (Anna), Riley, Marissa Young, Corrigan Benzkein (Sam), Sean Herbert (Marisa), Kaitlin, Anna and Kyle Herbert; his great grandchildren, Dorothy, Reeves Coly, Sophie and Maggie Herbert; and his daughter-in-law Kathy Herbert. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Mary's Church (15 Clark St, Auburn, NY 13021). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, September 10th 2025 at 11:15 AM at the same location.
The omission of flowers is requested, contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church and mail to 299 Clark St., Auburn, NY 13021 in Jack's memory.
