He was predeceased by: his mother Eileen Fitzgerald. He is survived by: his wife Kim Fitzgerald; his father Robert "Bob" Fitzgerald; his children, Emma Fitzgerald (Chris Gerardi), Eleanor Fitzgerald (Samuel Luke), Madeline Fitzgerald and Samuel Fitzgerald; his grandchildren, Hank and Lucy Gerardi; and his siblings, Brian Fitzgerald (Lissa Stevens), Michael Fitzgerald (Ann Fitzgerald) and Maureen Fitzgerald. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Native American Rights Fund in Gary's honor.
