Derek P. Genesky Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Derek P. Genesky (Batavia, New York), who passed away on June 14, 2025 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Genesky and Dora Genesky (Nanni); and his sister-in-law Mary Anne Metz (Balbick). He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Genesky (Balbick); his children, Geoffrey Genesky (Jessica Matlin) and Lauren Genesky of Buffalo; his granddaughter Lake Genesky; his siblings, Martin Genesky, John Genesky (Terry Agro) of Kenmore, Bruce Genesky (Patricia) and Donna Genesky of Kenmore; and his in-laws, Robert Balbick (Jane Marzolf) of Batavia, Ron Metz of Batavia and Nancy Balbick (Edmund Schichtel) of Akron. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. (329-333 W Main St, Batavia, NY 14020). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Ascension Parish (15 Sumner St, Batavia, NY 14020).
