He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Ann Gaeta Ahl; and his siblings, Norman Ahl and Jeannette Zufelt. He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Restivo (Mark) of Albion, Marianne Sallome (John Sr.) of Batavia and Carol Hunt (Dan) of Batavia; his grandchildren, Jenna Meisner (Ryan) of Attica, Emily Sallome of Rochester, John Sallome, Jr. (Katie Rustay) of Batavia, Erin Oliveri (Joseph) of Bergen and Matthew Dobbertin of Rochester; his great grandchildren, Ryker Matthew Meisner, Joseph Oliveri III and Sawyer Oliveri; and his sisters-in-law, Joanne Kruppa (late Paul) of Batavia and Dolores Prezyna (David) of West Seneca. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home (308 E Main St, Batavia, NY 14020). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's (303 E Main St, Batavia, NY 14020).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Activities Fund at the NYS Veterans Home, 220 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, NY 14020, Crossroads House, PO Box 403, Batavia, NY 14021 or to the Notre Dame High School Foundation, 73 Union Street, Batavia, NY 14020.
