He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyman Shults and Edith Shults (Allen); his sister Virginia Hughes; and his niece Judy Whitehead. He is survived by: his girlfriend Kathy McRae; and his brothers, James Shults and John Shults.

His contributions to the arts, music, and his community stand as a testament to a life well lived in Bath, New York.
