He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlton H. Lewis and Lillian Lewis (Dashefsky). He is survived by: his wife Rachel Lewis (Klein); his children, Miriam Elizabeth Sabin of New York City and Raphael Jacob Lewis (Rachel Reagan) of Boston; his grandchildren, Joseph B. Sabin, Margalit L. S. Sabin, Celo F. Lewis-Reagen and Miranda R. Lewis-Reagan; and his sister Barbara Trecker (James). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
