Patrick Thomas Lyons Obituary
Patrick Thomas LYONS, 79, of Belmont NY passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026.
Born December 31, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, he was raised in the loving care of his parents, Walter and Frances Buell. Patrick learned the values of faith, perseverance, compassion, and service that would guide his life.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 – 1969. After his military service, Patrick followed his calling into ministry and dedicated his life to serving God and others. He faithfully served as the Pastor of Gospel Fellowship Church in Belmont from 1986 until 2025. For nearly 40 years, he shepherded his congregation, shared the message of Christ, and touched the lives of many through his unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication. Patrick's passion for sharing the Gospel extended far beyond his local church. Throughout his years of ministry, he traveled to many nations preaching the Word of God and serving on the mission field. His heart for reaching people, encouraging believers, and sharing Christ's love impacted lives around the world.
Patrick was a devoted husband to Faith Swain Lyons and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Faith; his children, Bridget (Joseph) McGuire, Kerri (Jared) Hojem, Shannon (Brian) Clendenin, Deborah (Aaron) Wright, Gabriel (Taryn Conley) Lyons, and Elizabeth (Lyons) Schwezler; his stepsons, David (Diane Shear) Kirkland and Dion (Yvette Crane) Kirkland; 24 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren (one on the way); and his extended family and many friends who loved him dearly. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, William Lyons and James Lyons; and his beloved granddaughter, Brianna Kirkland.
Patrick will be remembered for his steadfast faith, servant's heart, love for his family, and the countless lives he influenced throughout his years of ministry. His legacy will continue through the people he encouraged, the faith he shared, and the family he cherished.
Friends may call at Gospel Fellowship Church, 4996 Hood Rd., Belmont, NY 14813 on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with a funeral service to celebrate his life following at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Belmont.
