He was predeceased by: his father Jack Ruth (Rose); and his brothers, Ronnie and John Hammitt. He is survived by: his wife Katherine (Kitty); his son Jeffery Hammitt; his daughter-in-law Lori; his children, Kristie Coleman and Joseph Mariani; his daughter-in-law Dr. Susan Strickler; his grandchildren, Corrie Brundage, Allison and Kyle Hammitt; and his siblings, Thomas and Ruth. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
