He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Lewis and James Waites; and his stepfather Freddy Lewis. He is survived by: his brother Freddy Lewis; his children, Fatima Abdullah, Umar Abdullah (Sheri) and Ayesha Ragusa Shakura Abdullah (Raye); and his grandchildren, Juliyah, Kaitlyn, Zachary, Marco, Mia, Dominick, Luciano, Ayana and Zahira. He is also survived by extended family and many caring friends.
