He was predeceased by: his parents, Maria Nieves Soto and Jose Rivera; his wife Cristina Rivera; and his siblings, Genaro "Pito" Rivera, Thomas Rivera and Socorro Rivera.

He is survived by: his sister Milagros Marrero; his niece Brenda Rivera; his great-nephew Andres Crane; and his stepchildren, Victor, Lydia, Jaime, Johnny and Michael. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His commitment and work ethic were evident in every endeavor, and he took great pride in his contributions to the community.
