He was predeceased by: his mother Barbara Mion; his brother-in-law Robert Schaffer; and his niece Erin Phelps. He is survived by: his wife Angela; his father Robert Sr.; his siblings, Regina Schaffer (Craig), Carol Mion, Annette Phelps (Dale) and Robert Jr. (Angie); and his aunt Judy Gazdik.
