He was predeceased by: his parents, Adelbert Smith and Grace Smith (McDonald); his stepmother Harriet Smith (Kelker); his siblings, Thomas Smith and Maureen Angilletta; his uncle Thomas McDonald; his in-laws, Edith Bauer and James Bauer; and his pets, Molly, Honey, Heidi and Sandy.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Bauer; his children, Trish Scheffler (Jay) and Jamie Smith (Shannon); his grandchildren, Mary Grace and James Smith; his siblings, Robert Smith (Kathleen) and Eileen Passaretti (Patrick); his aunt Cathy Neil (Bernie); his cousin Kathleen McDonald; his in-laws, Jacqueline Andriani (Frank), Robert Bauer (Robin) and Michael Bauer (Kim); and his close friends, John, Kathy Pellatt and Diane Robinson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
