He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Stala and Fannie Stala (Giocondo); his grandson Jack "Jake" Stala; and his brothers, Vincent and Jack Stala.

He is survived by: his wife Grace Stala (D'Agostino); his children, Annete Lombard (Edmund), Jack Stala (Kim), Joseph Stala (Barbara) and David Stala (Kristen); and his grandchildren, Kristina Leahy, Marissa Wagner, Kyle Lombard, Justin Lombard, Briana Burchfield, Nicole Stala, Kayleigh Stala, Joshua Stala, Zachary Stala, Anna Stala, David Stala, Anthony Stala and Alaina Stala. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
