He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Steele and Ivy Murgittroyd Steele; his siblings, Katherine King, Mary Meher, Robert Steele and Gene Steele; and his son-in-law Shawn Dake.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Hamel Steele; and his children, Sandra Hichens (Bill) of Gloversville, Tammie Dake of Johnstown, Benjamin Steele, Jr. (Vicky) of Piedmont, SC, Kelly Walker (Bob) of Gloversville and Robert Steele (Marge) of Fonda. He is also survived by eight granddaughters; three grandsons; seven great-granddaughters; five great-grandsons; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Broadalbin Kennyetto Firehouse (14 Pine St, Broadalbin, NY 12025).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Brennan Memorial Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
