With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Walter James Windus of Brockport, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 8, 2025 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Walter James departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Walter James may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Walter James leaves behind.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Windus; his daughter Danielle Windus-Cook (Rob Banzer); his grandson James Walter (JW) Cook (Jess); his great grandchild Lyla James Cook; his niece Laurie Simons (John); and his sister Queen Nellist.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Fowler Funeral Home, Inc. (340 West Ave, Brockport, NY 14420-2011). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Brockport First Baptist Church (124 Main St, Brockport, NY 14420).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Walt's memory to the Advent Hous (https://theadventhouse.org) e, whose compassionate care brought peace and dignity to him and his loved ones during his final days.
