Angelo Lopez Obituary

Angelo Lopez, 82, of the Bronx, New York passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026.

Born October 4, 1943 in Puerto Rico, he was the beloved son of Francisco & Francisca Lopez. He was an accomplished gymnast with ambitions of going to the Olympics. After suffering an injury this led him to proudly serve his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1971 where he was part of the Airborne Division and achieved rank in the Special Forces Green Beret Unit.

After his military service, Angelo continued to embody the values of honor, integrity, and service in his civilian life. He worked as a General Contractor in the Construction industry, where he was respected for his hard work, dedication and commitment. Just a few of the major projects he worked on included Gracie Mansion, Yankee Stadium, Co-op City, Columbia University & the Brooklyn Museum. He was a proud New Yorker who dedicated his life to building & beautifying the five boroughs.

Angelo is survived by his wife, Irene; his three children Robert (Emily), Elizabeth (Thomas) & Laura; his grandchildren Robert & Ryan; his brother Anibal, Robert and sister Rachel. Preceded in death by his parents Francisco & Francisca and his sister Lucy.

His family remembers him for his unwavering work ethic, wisdom, love for gardening & music (especially Billy Joel), taking care of the neighborhood wildlife and quiet strength that inspired everyone around him.

Funeral services will be held at Sisto Funeral Home on May 11, 2026 from 3pm - 8pm. Burial with full military honors will be held on May 12, 2026 at St. Raymond's Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate his life.
