She was born on August 21, 1959, in New York, NY, to Alfredo Garcia and Maria Melendez. Awilda lived a life defined by her big heart, unwavering strength, and vibrant spirit. Her humor could light up any room, and her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Awilda is survived by her devoted husband, Ariel; her beloved mother, Maria; her sons, Andres and Robert; her daughter-in-law, Maja; and her cherished grandchildren, Kiara, Sierra, Andres "AJ," Gabriel, and Aryanna. She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Johnny, Jose, and Antonio; their wives, Sonya, Wendy, and Concepcion; along with countless extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alfredo.
