Clotide Saavedra Obituary
---English Obituary---
Clotilde Saavedra, lovingly known as Tilda by her family and close friends, was born on October 29, 1943, in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, to Ana Celia and Florencio Morales. She was the second oldest child and the oldest daughter in a family of thirteen children.
From an early age, Clotilde possessed a loving and nurturing spirit. She deeply loved her parents and siblings and often took on the responsibility of cooking and caring for her younger brothers and sisters. Her devotion to family would remain at the heart of who she was throughout her life.
In her thirties, Clotilde moved to New York City, where she met the love of her life, her late husband, Olegario Saavedra. Together, they built a life and family and welcomed their two children, Rolando and Yaritza, who became the greatest joys of her life.
Clotilde and Olegario also shared a Mexican grocery store in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. Those who knew her during those years will remember a woman full of life—playing her music loudly, dancing, laughing, cooking, and bringing warmth wherever she went.
Clotilde was especially known for her generous hospitality. Feeding others was one of the many ways she expressed her love. Her kitchen brought together the flavors of her Puerto Rican heritage and the Mexican traditions that became part of her family's story. There was always something delicious to eat and, more importantly, a place at her table.
In her later years, Clotilde treasured the simple joys of being surrounded by the people she loved most. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Yaritza, her son, Rolando, and her daughter-in-law, Ariana. Together, they traveled to different places, shared wonderful meals, laughed, and created memories that will forever remain close to their hearts. She also had a special love for her beloved cat, Nuno, who brought her companionship and happiness.
Clotilde leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, laughter, family, and care. She will be deeply missed by her children, siblings, daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
While her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of her family, they will remember Tilda as she lived: surrounded by family, sharing good food, playing music, laughing, dancing, and loving those around her with all her heart.
May she rest peacefully, surrounded by the love she gave so freely throughout her life. Her memory will live on in every meal shared, every song played, every family gathering, and every story told in her honor.
