It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mae J. Matthews in Bronx, New York, who passed away on July 21, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the echoes of fond remembrance, may a sense of peace be found, knowing that the memories held dear will continue to shape and inspire her loved ones, keeping Mae's spirit alive in the hearts and actions of family and friends alike. While her presence may be gone, her impact lives on in the kindness shown to others and the joy found in the ordinary moments of life.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Farr II and Emma Farr; and her siblings, Fae Farr-Bowie and Robert Farr III. She is survived by: her daughter Sharon Reid (Wendell); her granddaughter Tiffany Reid; her great grandchild Tyriq McKelvey; her nephew Lester Bowie (Cristal); and her great-nephew Michael Bowie. She is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home, Inc. (491 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains, NY 10605). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
